The Gysta Group Gladiators, a newly formed expansion team in the FBL, made a significant announcement on Thursday by appointing Adel Assiri as the franchise's inaugural head coach. This move marks a pivotal moment in the team's history and sets the course for their future in the league.

In explaining the decision to select Assiri as the head coach, Gladiator owner Keith Coleman emphasized the importance of a coach who genuinely cares about the well-being of the players. Coleman stated, "The primary quality I sought in a head coach was someone who prioritizes the welfare of the players. Clear and concise communication is crucial for players to understand and execute the coach's vision, and Adel possesses these qualities, which resonates well with the team."

Despite the common notion that expansion teams may take time to become competitive, Coleman expressed optimism and ambition for immediate success under Assiri's guidance. The early performance of the Gysta Group Gladiators in their debut season will hinge significantly on the incoming players from the expansion draft and trades, as well as their ability to gel as a cohesive unit from the start.

The Gysta Group has officially announced the selection of their logo and team name. The team will proudly go by the name "Gladiators." The decision to choose this name stems from the reputation of the gladiators as resilient and formidable warriors known for their prowess in battle. The chosen logo features crossed swords, symbolizing the strength and unity of the team, while the crossing of the swords represents the clash of opposing forces. According to team owner, Keith Coleman, the finalization of the logo underwent several iterations before all stakeholders reached a unanimous decision. He expressed satisfaction with the chosen design and anticipated that the fans would share the same sentiment. Judging by the initial merchandise sales, it seems like the fans are already showing great enthusiasm for it.

The Gysta Group basketball organization is set to debut in the 2024-25 season. Although the team initially aimed to begin playing a season earlier, administrative obstacles led to a delay in the timeline. The addition of Gysta Group to the Western Conference of the Filipino Basketball League will balance the number of clubs in both conferences at 10. The new team is expected to establish a rivalry with the league's champions, the Kuwait Eagles, as they are located just an hour away by car to the north. As a result of Gysta Group's inclusion, the AE Construction Coyotes will move from the Pacific Division to the Central Division.

Anticipation is building for the inaugural season of Gysta Group's team, with fans taking to social media to express their support well before the league officially announced the new addition. With the team now awarded by the F.B.L., the ownership group will begin building a fan base, selecting players, and hiring front-office employees and a coach. A team nickname will also be chosen in the near future.
